Everything in the scriptures is defined by God’s definition and purpose.
The True Church is the body of Christ, defined by God’s Word, as the fullness of Him who fills all in all (Ephesians 1:22-23).
Our understanding of the church must be shaped by God’s Word, not by past experiences or traditions that distort His truth. As Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, “I will build My church,” and it is built on the revelation of who He is. The church is not a place or a name, but a people called by God’s name, united in Christ, and empowered to worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:24).
The church is God’s household (1 Timothy 3:15), a body made up of many members, all serving different roles (1 Corinthians 12:12-14). Ultimately, the church is the dwelling place of God’s Spirit, a living, breathing organism where Christ is the head, and His love and power are evident in every member. As we grow in understanding, we must focus on what the Word reveals about the church, seeking wisdom to live out God’s truth in community.
